Our guest for International Peace Sunday was Dr. Karl Rieken (REE-ken). Dr Riecken is a family physician trained in human performance physiology and functional medicine. He is a member of Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility, Veterans for Peace, and About Face: Veterans Against the War. He is also part of the Civilian Medical Resources Network, helping service members get the medical care they need and deserve. He share with us his experience of choosing the leave the US military after working with Marshallese patients in Tacoma, who were seeing the deep health impacts of US nuclear testing on the Marshall Islands. While he was granted an honorable discharge following his Conscientious Objection claim, Dr. Rieken is still in a court process to determine whether he will be able to retain his license.
